🍎 Teacher of the Month: Mrs. Mahoney
Starting kindergarten is a pretty big deal. New routines, new friendships, new expectations, and a whole lot of learning happen during that first year of school. Having a teacher who makes those first experiences positive can shape the way a child feels about school for years to come.
That’s exactly the kind of teacher Mrs. Mahoney is.
This month’s Teacher of the Month nominations were filled with appreciation for the joy, encouragement, and genuine care Mrs. Mahoney brings to her classroom each day.
One parent shared:
“She’s the best kindergarten teacher, getting our kids settled into school and cheering them on as they learn all their new school skills!”
Parents consistently described a teacher who truly gets to know each student as an individual. She recognizes their strengths, finds creative ways to help them grow, and creates an environment where kids are excited to walk through the classroom door each morning.
One nomination shared just how lasting that impact can be:
“My son was lucky enough to have Mrs. Mahoney as his kindergarten teacher. She was pivotal in making his first year of school something he loved going to and really fostered his love of learning. She’s the type of teacher students don’t forget. In fact, my son, now a fourth grader, still looks forward to seeing her in the halls at school. He talks about what a great teacher she was and how much fun he had being in her classroom. She is incredible, and our community is so lucky to have her.”
That may be one of the greatest compliments a kindergarten teacher can receive. Years later, her former students still remember how she made them feel.
Another parent, whose two children have both had Mrs. Mahoney for kindergarten, shared how much they appreciated her ability to meet students where they are while continuing to challenge them:
“I’ve personally seen her go above and beyond to challenge my kids in the areas where they excel, giving them just the right level of difficulty to keep them motivated and excited about school. I’m so grateful for that. My children have continued to love learning, and a big part of that is because of the environment she creates.”
But what makes Mrs. Mahoney so special extends well beyond academics.
From birthdays and holidays to classroom parties and end-of-year milestones, she has a gift for making celebrations meaningful. She makes her students feel seen, celebrated, and proud of what they've accomplished.
And her commitment to Three Forks students doesn’t stop when the kindergarten bell rings. Mrs. Mahoney also serves as the Three Forks High School softball coach, continuing to encourage, teach, and cheer on students as they grow.
There’s something pretty special about a teacher who can welcome some of our youngest students into their very first year of school and continue being a familiar, supportive face in their community years later.
As one nomination put it:
“Mrs. Mahoney is an exceptional teacher, and we feel incredibly lucky to have had her in our children’s lives.”
Congratulations to Mrs. Mahoney, our Teacher of the Month! Thank you for the creativity, encouragement, patience, and heart you pour into your students, both inside the classroom and beyond it. Three Forks is lucky to have you. ❤️
